Extending Our MobileReach

Recently our friends and colleagues Judi Epcke, Tammy Lind and Chad Kafka completed their run as hosts of the EdReach network's Mobile Reach Podcast to create their own show - Teacher Tech Talk. As such, they handed over the reigns of Mobile Reach to some new hosts... myself, Dave Freiburg and Sue Gorman!

Please tune in every week to hear us discuss mobile learning, awesome apps and latest mobile device news on this reimagining of MobileReach! We post a new episode every Friday and you can listen in to this new posting or any archived show any time on the EdReach site and on iTunes!

Comments on the EdReach site are always very much welcomed as are comments / ratings on iTunes! Additionally if you have any requests for show topics or special guests, please let me know. Thanks so much for listening!! :)

  1. Hi Jennie,

I just saw Tony Vincent's post about your podcast and decided to subscribe. The first episode I chose to listen to was about integration vs redefinition, and you were a guest host! I was excited to hear you talking about the SAMR model. I discovered it a few months ago and have been trying to spread the word. We just got iPads in my school this year, so my goal for this first year has just to "integrate", to get comfortable with them and explore what I can do with them in the classroom. It's difficult because we're not 1 to 1 like you are (you're so lucky!), but I take every opportunity I can to get my class to use them. After reading about SAMR, I feel like I'm not utilizing the iPads as I should be, so my goal for next year is to become more of an innovator, transforming and redefining my lessons and activities. I'm so glad to find out that you are a new host of the Mobile Reach podcast -- I will definitely be listening and waiting for some inspirational ideas!

    2. Jennie,

I would love to hear more about your iBooks on your podcast. I have been wrestling with the idea of creating one for my special education students, but not sure how to approach it. I teach middle school math, and can't figure out what types of interactive things I could include. Any suggestions?

    3. Sure! Quizzes, video tutorials and embedded sounds are all great interactive features. We'll also put this on our to-do list for show ideas!

  2. Have you found a way to imbed manipulatives, for example, the 2-sided chips to solve integer problems?
